Summary:

San-at va To-se-eh, the official journal of the Iranian Ministry of Industries, has published for general information, what it considers to be the priorities of investment in Iran.

Under the title of "Guide to Industrial Investment", we will, henceforth, use these pages to inform the investors, of some of the directions for the expansion of industrial investment, and the corresponding regulations and supports. We are also ready to reply the written common questions of prospective investors. In this issue, some of the investment priorities in various regions of Iran, are listed for general information:

The proposed regions are: West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Khorasan, Fars, Khuzestan (in partnership with the sevenfold sugar projects)

Animal Feed

The proposed region: Khuzestan (using the waste products of the sugar cane factories).

Paper

Proposed region: Khuzestan (using the bagasse produced in the sugar cane factories)

Compressed Wood

Proposed region: Khuzestan (using the rest of the bagasse Surplus obtained from the sugar cane factories)

Single-Cell Protein

Proposed region: Khuzestan (using the molasses obtained from the sugar cane factories)

Yeast

Preferably in those regions where a sugar factory already exists.

Potato Products

Proposed regions: Ardebil, Khorasan, Isfahan, Hamedan, Semnan, Mazandaran, Chahar Mohal and Bakhtiari, Kerman

Flour

Proposed regions: Isfahan, Lorestan, West Azerbaijan, Gilan, Khorasan, East Azerbaijan, Fars, Khuzestan, Kerman, Hamedan, Zanjan, Tehran.

Date Production and Conversion

Examples: packaging, liquid sweetener, animal feed. Proposed regions: Hormozgan, Fars, Khuzestan, Bushehr, Kerman, Semnan, Sistan and Baluchistan.

Nuts Production and Packaging

Proposed regions: West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, Khorasan, Kerman, Semnan, Hamedan and Fars.

Dairy Products

Proposed Regions: West Azerbaijan, Ilam, Chahar Mohal and Bakhtiari, Kurdistan, Lorestan, Mazandaran, Kermanshah, Semnan, Hamedan, Khorasan, Zanjan and Guilan.

Examples: fish powder, canning, breeding and packaging of edible and inedible marine animals (for export), ice making, refrigeration plants and freezing tunnels in coastal provinces.

Examples: caprolactames, textile dyes, the ingredients for drugs and medicines, polyesters, L.A.B., polyacetals, methyl acetyl ketones, chlorinated solvents, ion exchanger resins, phenol and acetone, auto- oxylates, organic fertilizer from waste materials, butyl rubber, carboxymethyl-cellulose, diactylephenolate, poly-isobutylene, monochloroacetic acid, petroleum resins, polypropylene, melamine crystals, P.V.C., ethylamines.

Examples: refined salt, sodium carbonate, titanium oxide, chromium salts, strontium carbonate and sodium sulfate, aluminum sulfate, decolorizing clay, chromite products, etc.

Examples: I.C.U. and C.C.U monitoring devices, electrocardiography equipment, electroencephalography equipment, ultrasound imaging equipment, audiometers, C.T. scanners, dental equipment, dental radiography equipment, high-voltage transformers for X-ray equipment, stethoscopes.

Examples: current and voltage transformer, overload tripping switch, circuit breakers, active and reactive wattmeter, high and intermediate-voltage contacts, high-voltage cables.

Example: gas regulators.

Example: clay pipes, fiber glass pipes, etc.
